India A captain Rishabh Pant has retired hurt after suffering multiple blows to his body on Day 3 of IND A vs SA A 2nd unofficial Tests
In what could be worrying news for India, Rishabh Pant retired hurt on Day 3 of the 2nd unofficial Test between India A and South Africa A. The keeper-batter, who is India A’s captain, made his comeback in the 1st Test after being out of action since the IND vs ENG 4th Test earlier this year. Pant is expected to return to international cricket in the upcoming series against South Africa and has been named in the squad.
Rishabh Pant retires hurt
As per Sportstar, Pant faced multiple blows to various parts of his body before he decided to retire hurt on Day 3. He was first hit on the helmet while attempting to play an audacious reverse hook. Then, the southpaw was hit on his left arm while attempting a pull shot. Finally, Pant was struck in his abdomen. While the physio was out in the field on all three occasions to tend to the batter, Pant eventually retired hurt.
Rishabh managed to score 17 runs off 22 deliveries before he retired out. Playing in his usual ultra-aggressive style, Pant hammered one six and two fours before he was forced to end his innings early. In the 1st innings, he managed to score just 24 runs before he was sent packing.
At present, India A lead by 150 runs in the INDA vs SAA 2nd unofficial Test. Rishabh Pant and co. will be hoping to end the series on a winning note as it will bolster the confidence of the side heading into the two-match series against South Africa.
Meanwhile, India will be hoping that Pant will be completely fit and fine for the IND vs SA Test series which begins from November 14 onwards.
