Jammu and Kashmir moved to the second place on the points table in Group D, while Bengal have topped Group B.

The fourth round of matches in the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy season has ended. Compared to the previous three games, the penultimate round of the first leg wasn’t as exciting. However, it ended with a historic feat.

Jammu & Kashmir beat Delhi

Jammu and Kashmir recorded their maiden win over Delhi in the Ranji Trophy. Having first played Delhi in 1960, J&K finally managed to beat Delhi, and that too at their home, Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Auqib Nabi exposed the batting with a 5-wicket haul in the first innings. Vanshaj Sharma stood up in the second inning, claiming a 5-wicket haul and restricting Delhi to 277. Having already taken a 99-run lead, chasing 179 was going to be easy, but was gettable.

Luckily for J&K, opener Qamran Iqbal scored an unbeaten 133. It was the highest first-class score of Qamran’s career. In just 43.3 overs and with 7 wickets in hand, J&K won. The next best score after Qamran was just 10. It was an exceptional innings, especially considering what was on the line.

No Shami, no issue for Bengal

Despite Mohammed Shami not playing, Bengal’s bowlers had no issue in making light work of the Railways batters. The pacer had been in scintillating touch, taking 15 wickets in 3 matches. But Bengal had no issues with him. After enforcing the follow-on, Bengal dismissed Railways in just 55.5 overs in the second innings. At the center of the win was Shahbaz Ahmed.

The left-arm spinner took 7 wickets in the second innings, including the last batters that fell. Shahbaz has been in good form in the Ranji Trophy this year, taking a 6-wicket haul in Gujarat.
