Meanwhile, as far as the auction dates are concerned, many reports suggest that the IPL 2026 auction is scheduled to take place in December. That gives enough time to the franchises to get back to the drawing boards and decide their IPL retention lists. Also, what could be detrimental this year is, there is no cap on the no. of players that the teams can retain.

There are a few IPL trade deals, or rumours that are grabbing the eyeballs. As per various reports, the IPL trade deal between RR and CSK is still on, with the Chennai franchise eyeing Sanju Samson, instead of someone like a Ravindra Jadeja. Of course there is no clarity, as to how true these claims are.

Sanju Samson to CSK?

Also, in the pipeline could be a trade deal between DC and KKR, with the latter eyeing KL Rahul. They need a senior player could can just also solve the purpose of being a leader as well. On the other hand, KKR are almost certain to release their vice-captain Venkatesh Iyer, who was bagged for 23.75 Cr, but could not come up with great performances.

Just a couple of days back, the retention list for the WPL teams was out too, where there were a few surprises. The biggest of them all was, Deepti Sharma was not retained by UP Warriorz, and would enter the auction for WPL 2025.
