Injured Rishabh Pant likely to recover in six weeks, no surgery needed for fractured toe

IND vs ENG: Rishabh Pant had fractured his toe in the Manchester Test, while attempting a reverse scoop, off a fast bowler.

So, there is some good news coming in for star India keeper-batter Rishabh Pant. After injuring hit toe during the Manchester Test, the southpaw was ruled out for the last Test, and it was believed, that he would take some time to recover. But that said, as per a report in the Times of India, it is revealed that he won’t require a surgery, but would be back only after 6 weeks.

Which effectively means, Rishabh Pant is going to miss the Asia Cup and also the West Indies series. The former is set to start in September, where India could play three matches against Pakistan. On the other hand, as per the same report, Karun Nair has suffered a small setback. During the Oval Test, he had sustained a finger fracture, and is going to miss the Duleep Trophy for the Central Zone.

In the recently concluded series, he went on to score 205 runs in 4 Tests, at an average of 25 with just only one fifty to his name. There is no timeline given for his recovery, but with the next Test series for India still some time away, he should be able to recover in time.

Coming back to Rishabh Pant, the batter was excellent in the entire IND vs ENG series. He scored 479 runs in 4 matches, including two tons and three fifties, and an overall average of 68. What was even more staggering is, he went on to hit 17 sixes in the series, which was the most by any player in the series.
