Team India would be playing their first Test at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata, in six years now, with their last encounter coming against Bangladesh, way back in November 2019 — the famous pink ball Test. Most runs in Kolkata

Historically, it has been a ground that the Indian batsmen favour. The black soil gives that extra push to the home batters, to score heavily. And as far as the highest run-scorer at the venue is concerned, it is VVS Laxman, who scored 1217 runs in 10 matches here at an average of 110. The next on the list is Rahul Dravid with 962 in 9 matches.

Most wickets in Eden Gardens

Spinners have led the way here. And no wonder Harbhajan Singh leads the charts with 46 wickets in 7 matches, followed by Anil Kumble with 40 scalps and Bishen Singh Bedi with 29 wickets. One pacer who seemed to have found success there was, Kapil Dev, who picked 27 wickets.
