Following the announcement of an immediate ceasefire between India and Pakistan, a BCCI source said NDTV exclusively that the board of directors will appeal for the resumption of IPL 2025 following a consultation with all the stakeholders concerned and the Indian government. He added that talks will take place in the next 48 hours. On Friday, IPL 2025 was suspended for a week after the growing tensions between India and Pakistan. Since then, the two countries have now accepted a ceasefire, the tournament could resume soon.
The BCCI was forced to suspend the 2025 IPL, with 16 games to play, while the Indian-Pakistan border conflict threatened to become a full-fledged war after the Pahalgam terrorist attack and India Sindoor.
Thursday’s match between the kings of Punjab and the capitals of Delhi in Dharamsala was abandoned halfway due to the conflict. With Dharamsala Closed airport, players and support staff of the two teams went by bus to Jalandhar, and then went on a train to Delhi.
“The BCCI suspended the IPL yesterday for a period of seven days and, today, we are in the second day with five more days. The BCCI was closely monitored the situation and the evolutionary developments, and will take an appeal for the resumption of IPL after consulting all the stakeholders of the IPL and the government authorities concerned,” said a source of the BCCI in NDTV.
“Over the next 48 hours, we will start consultations with franchises, broadcasters, sponsors and state associations that should host the remaining matches before crystallizing to a decision on the resumption of the league. Since the importance of IPL at this stage, it will also be careful and necessary to take the head of the government before the time to be based.
