Ahead of the game, the Eden Gardens curator spilt the beans on what the Indian management wants for the IND vs SA 1st Test
Eden Gardens pitch curator Sujan Mukherjee has revealed what the Indian team’s requested before IND vs SA 1st Test. India will take on South Africa in the 1st Test from November 14 onwards, which will mark Shubman Gill’s second series at home in the ongoing WTC cycle. Ahead of the game, the Eden Gardens curator spilt the beans on what the Indian management wants for the IND vs SA 1st Test.
No rank turner for IND vs SA 1st Test?
Speaking to India Today after India’s optional practice session, Mukherjee said that the Indian team management had asked for a bit of turn for the IND vs SA 1st Test. He said that the pitch will be a good wicket, adding that there will be turn as the game progresses. The Eden Gardens curator added that there will something for both batters and bowlers in the contest.
“The pitch will be good. It will be a good sporting wicket. As the days progress, there will be turn. There will be bounce. But everybody – batter, bowler – there is something for everybody on this pitch,. The chat with the team like every home team. See, if you go to Australia, there will be bounce. Likewise, Indian teams ask for a bit of turn. Not much, but they ask for a bit of turn” Sujan Mukherjee.
As per news agency PTI, India head coach Gautam Gambhir, bowling coach Morne Morkel, captain Gill and batting coach Sitanshu Kotak inspected the pitch on Tuesday. The report further claims that Morkel and Gill had inspected the pitch for 15 minutes before summoning Sujan Mukherjee. The report claims that the Indian team management wasn’t pleased with the surface, based on their expressions.
