Corbin Burnes launched seven goals aimless, Eugenio Suarez hit his 12th circuit and the Arizona Diamondbacks closed the Los Angeles Dodgers 3-0 on Saturday in Phoenix.
Burnes (2-1) abandoned five single, withdrew six and walked two when he returned to the mound. He missed his previous departure due to the inflammation of the shoulder which required a cortisone shot, which led to his first missed turn since 2021.
Suarez attracted Dustin May (1-3) to give the D-Backs an advance of 2-0 in sixth round after Corbin Carroll tripled and marked at the focus of Ketel Marte in the third. Carroll leads the majors with five triple.
Pavin Smith added three strokes, including a double RBI in the eighth. Tim Tawa had a simple, a walk and two bases stolen during his first departure in the left field for the D-Backs, which are not worse than a split in the series of four games which ends on Sunday.
Shohei Ohtani and Max Muncy chose and walked for Dodgers, which were excluded for the third time this season. Freddie Freeman had 0 for 4 to finish his 14 -game sequence, during which he was 25 years old for 53 (0.472).
Ohtani led the game with a simple, but was erased on a double game Mookie Betts. The dodgers had up to two runners on the base in just the third and fourth inning.
Burnes asked Betts to fly away after intentionally walking Ohtani to put the runners first and second in the third. He withdrew Enrique Hernandez and Michael Comforto after Andy Pages chose and Max Muncy walked with one in the fourth.
Burnes launched 91 throws and obtained 19 of its 21 withdrawals during land or stick withdrawals. He withdrew 11 of the last 13 which he faced and launched strikes in the first round at 10 of the last 11.
Ryne Nelson obtained the six strikers he faced to become the eighth launcher of Arizona to record a stop this season.
May abandoned two points and seven strokes before leaving with two withdrawals in the seventh – his longest out of the season. He withdrew five and walked one.
Ohtani launched an enclosure of 34 hours two hours before the match, but manager Dave Roberts said that there was no calendar for his return to the mound.
