CEGC 2025 BGMI Grand Finals Day 1 Sees Low Stadium Attendance Despite Strong Promotion. Check out the detailed information below.

The Chennai Esports Global Championship (CEGC) BGMI Grand Finals kicked off on November 14, 2025, at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai. This event is organized by Skyesports in collaboration with the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu and features 16 top mobile esports teams competing for a ₹50 lakh prize pool. The stadium, one of the premier indoor venues in Chennai, has a seating capacity of approximately 8,000.

CEGC 2025 BGMI Grand Finals Day 1: Disappointing Audience Turnout

Despite extensive promotions through banners around the city and active social media campaigns, the event witnessed very low physical attendance. The number of fans in the stadium was in the hundreds, nowhere close to filling the 8,000-seat venue. This glaring emptiness during a major LAN tournament is considered a serious underperformance.

Hosting such an event in a large stadium yet drawing fewer than 1,000 attendees highlights the gap between the event’s scale and real-world fan engagement. Day 1 of CEGC 2025 BGMI Grand Finals hit 2.1 million views in total with 100,000+ CCV across all matches.

Responsibility on Event Organizers

Skyesports, known for successfully organizing large-scale esports events including previous high-attendance tournaments in Chennai, appears to have faltered in execution this time.

The low turnout despite heavy city-wide promotions points to gaps in targeted marketing, audience outreach, or engagement strategies to drive in-person attendance alongside online viewership, which was strong during the event. Such underperformance dampens the spirit of LAN events and impacts potential sponsorship and credibility going forward.

While the Chennai Esports Global Championship remains an important step for Indian esports on the international stage, this event’s attendance shortcomings are a reminder of the challenges in converting digital popularity into physical presence. Future esports tournaments in India may need to adopt more nuanced promotional tactics to fill large venues and create the electric atmosphere that competitive gaming deserves.
