According to the book, Original Sin, the state of Biden during its presidential race in 2024 would have been so poor that the aids discussed putting it in a wheelchair.
A spokesman for Biden, 82, said that “proof of aging is not proof of mental inability” and argued that the Democrat had been “a very effective president”.
The book, by Jake Tapper by CNN and Alex Thompson d’Axios, is expected to be released on May 20.
Biden suddenly put an end to his re -election campaign last July shortly after his disastrous performance of debate against Donald Trump, a republican.
The party initiates blamed him for leaving the race too late, leaving his replacement, vice-president Kamala Harris, 107 days to challenge Trump, who swept away the victory.
Before the release of the book, Biden gave his first interview last week since he left the White House at the BBC, saying: “I don’t think it would have been important” if he had left the race earlier.
While the book largely quotes anonymous sources in interviews with more than 200 people, one of the few to be quoted on the file is David Plouffe, who worked on the campaign of vice-president Harris.
“We were so screwed up by Biden as a party,” said the book Plouffe.
The authors write: “Biden’s physical deterioration – the most apparent in his interrupted walk – had become so serious that there were internal discussions on the wheelchair in wheelchair, but they could only do it after the elections.
“Given the age of Biden, [his physician Kevin O’Connor] Also said in private that if he had another bad fall, a wheelchair may be necessary for what could be difficult recovery, “added the book.
Biden’s physical condition had decreased so much, said the authors, that the aids had sought to make sure that he was traveling shorter distances, used handraised hands during assembly of the stairs and bore coaches more often.
At the time, Biden Aides told journalists several times that his modified approach was due to a foot fracture in November 2020 and his subsequent refusal to systematically carry his prescribed surgical boot.
In a statement to Axios, an anonymous assistant from Biden said: “Yes, there have been physical changes as they get older, but proof of aging is not proof of mental incapacity.”
The spokesman added: “We are still waiting for someone, anyone, to underline where Joe Biden had to make a presidential decision or take a presidential address where he could not do his job due to a mental decline.
“In fact, proofs indicate the opposite – he was a very effective president.”
The book of Tapper and Thompson also says that Biden did not recognize George Clooney during a starred Californian campaign fund in June organized by The Hollywood Star.
“Thank you for being here,” Biden told Clooney at the event, apparently ignoring that he was addressed to the Oscar winner.
“You know George,” said an assistant to Biden when he had trouble resolving the identity of Clooney.
Shortly after the incident, Clooney wrote an opinion article in the New York Times calling Biden to leave the race. The actor was one of the first main donors to publicly withdraw his support.
The book also alleges that Biden has forgotten the names of veterans aid, notably the loyalist of confidence Mike Donilon, the national security advisor Jake Sullivan and the director of communications of the White House Kate Bedingfield.
