Pakistan hasn’t beaten India in an ICC event since 2021 and lost all three matches against their arch-rivals in the 2025 Asia Cup.
The India and Pakistan cricket boards are duelling at the moment. The 2025 Asia Cup trophy drama is the reason behind the latest tiff between them. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi, who’s also the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chief, didn’t hand Team India the trophy after they refused to collect it from him on the podium.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has written to the International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding the matter, but nothing has happened. The Asia Cup trophy remains at the ACC office in Dubai. Amid all of this, BCCI has somewhat gained a moral victory.
No cricket rivalry between India & Pakistan
A current Pakistan cricketer, Azam Khan, has agreed with past statements by India captain Suryakumar, where he claimed that there isn’t a rivalry between India and Pakistan in cricket anymore.
“You guys should stop asking about the rivalry. What matters is whether a team plays good cricket or not. According to me, if the two teams are playing 15-20 games & the scoreline is 7-7 or 8-7, then it is called a rivalry. If the scoreline is 10-1 or 13-0 – I don’t know the exact number – this is not a rivalry anymore,” Suryakumar had said during the Asia Cup.

Pakistan fast bowler Shaheen Afridi had brushed the comment aside then, stating they’ll see what happens if India and Pakistan meet in the Asia Cup final. But Suryakumar was proved right as India won the tournament. Now, Azam has also agreed with India’s T20I captain’s assessment.
“If you see the ICC tournaments, I think… I don’t know if I should say this, but technically he is correct,” said on a podcast with Crickwick.
As Azam mentioned, India has a stronghold over Pakistan when it comes to ICC events. The last time Pakistan beat India was at the 2021 T20 World Cup.

But India’s just better than Pakistan across formats and events, ICC or not. In the last 10 meetings between them, India has lost just 1 match while the latter has lost 8.
