RR doesn’t really have a lot to choose from when it comes to retaining all-rounders, and would most likely make the obvious choices.
One of the biggest reasons, or in hindsight we can say, for Rajasthan Royals’ failure in IPL 2025 was due to the lack of all-rounders in their team. This time around, come the IPL retentions 2026, they would not only have to retain the existing ones, but also add newer ones in the IPL auction.
Predicted retention list RR (all-rounders)
Riyan Parag: 393 runs in 14 matches, to go with three wickets. Parag showed that he had upgrade his game, and this IPL 2026 could be another great one for him. He could also be in the running for captaincy, given Sanju Samson’s trade to CSK.
Wanindu Hasaranga: We have already spoken about how the Sri Lankan should be retained, just for his bowling, but he can add some value as a batter too. That said, this year he only scored 9 runs in 5 innings. Looks like, even the management does not trust his batting enough.
RR IPL 2025 Squad: Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel, Shimron Hetmyer, Sandeep Sharma, Jofra Archer (Rs. 12.50 crore), Maheesh Theekshana (Rs. 4.4 crore), Wanindu Hasaranga (Rs. 5.25 crore), Akash Madhwal (Rs. 1.20 crore), Kumar Kartikeya (Rs. 30 lakh), Nitish Rana (Rs. 4.20 crore), Tushar Deshpande (Rs. 6.50 crore), Shubham Dubey (Rs. 80 lakh), Yudhvir Singh (Rs. 35 lakh), Fazalhaq Farooqi (Rs. 2 crore), Vaibhav Suryavanshi (Rs. 1.10 crore), Kwena Maphaka (Rs. 1.50 crore), Kunal Rathore (Rs. 30 lakh), Ashok Sharma (Rs. 30 lakh).
