Abhishek Porel reveals what KL Rahul advised him during IPL 2025

Delhi Capitals batter Abhishek Porel has revealed how KL Rahul guided him through IPL 2025 as he spent his first season alongside the veteran. The Karnataka batter moved to DC after being bagged in the mega auction for Rs 14 crore while the West Bengal keeper-batter was retained for Rs 4 crore. While both batters managed to have a good season in the previous edition of the tournament. Porel revealed some invauable advice that he had gotten from Rahul which allowed him to become better.

How Rahul’s advice allowed Porel to become better

In an exclusive interview with InsideSport, Porel revealed that he had struggled to convert good starts to big knocks in IPL 2025. He said that his conversation with Rahul had centered on how he could score in he 70-80s after getting a good start, just like how the keeper-batter did so.

“I had spoken to KL bhai about the 7-8 times that I had gotten out in the 30-40s which I failed to convert, which he could do in 60-70s. I spoke to him about how to convert the knocks. In my mind, this year, I want to focus on how to convert 20-40s to 70-80s and that is where my conversation was centered upon,” Abhishek Porel said.

The West Bengal star was arguably one of DC’s best and consistent batters in IPL 2025. Having made his IPL debut in 2023 with the team, the 23-year-old has gone on to clock over 300 runs in two consecutive seasons, emerging as one of DC’s most reliable batters. In 2025, Porel amassed 301 runs from 13 matches, including one half-century.
