Bowlers MI should retain for IPL 2026

When it comes to IPL 2026 retention list, MI should not face a big challenge in selecting their core group of bowlers.

As the IPL retentions 2026 announcement date is coming closer, the curiosity among the fans is only increasing. MI had a decent season in 2025, where they qualified for the playoffs, but just could not go the distance. This time around, they will have a chance to make amends at the IPL 2026 auction. But before that, they need to come up with a retention list, that keeps their core intact.

InsideSport takes a look at the list of bowlers that MI should retain ahead of IPL 2026 auction.

Bowlers MI should retain ahead of IPL Auction 2026

Jasprit Bumrah: There is no doubt that the team would, and should retain the best bowler in the world. In 145 games he has picked up 183 wickets, and is an invaluable asset to the team.

Trent Boult: 16 matches and 22 wickets; the New Zealander should definitely be in the scheme of things for MI going forward.

Ashwani Kumar: This youngster from Kerala was mighty impressive in his debut season, and picked up 11 wickets. Should be given a longer rope.

Vignesh Puthur: Another such bowler, of course different styles, was Puthur. The wrist-spinner played a few matches initially, but did impress one and all.

Mitchell Santner: He qualifies as an all-rounder too, but let’s just save him for his bowling abilities. He picked up 10 wickets, and had an economy rate under 8, which is excellent.
