At the WPL 2026 retention. GG had decided to retain only Ash Gardener and Beth Mooney.
Just a couple of days back, at the WPL 2026 retention, Gujarat Giants, out of their entire squad decided not to retain any of its Indian players, but two Aussies only — Ash Gardener for 3.5 cr and Beth Mooney for 2.5 cr. That has more to do with the fact, that GG want to build their from the scratch — at WPL 2026 auction that is due to take place in Delhi on November 27.
Bowlers Gujarat Giants should target in WPL 2026 mega auction
Renuka Thakur: Look, in a surprise move, the team got rid of Priya Mishra and Deandra Dottin, but that said, GG management will have the option of using their RTM card, when the two are sold in the WPL 2026 auction. As for others, they would definitely be eyeing someone like a Renuka Singh, the Indian pacer who was ousted by RCB. The 29-year-old has 13 wickets so far, and has the ability to swing the ball sharply in both directions.
Sophie Devine: GG have a purse of 9 cr left, and in that they would like to accommodate New Zealand all-rounder Devine as well. Off late she has been in brilliant bowling form, and has 119 T20I wickets to her name. She could be an excellent addition to the team.
Alana King: You do need a leg-spinner in your ranks, and who better than King from Australia. She was excellent in the Women’s World Cup, and could be rewarded with a big WPL contract. And to solidify their squad, Gujarat might be tempted to look at her. Till now she has played just one WPL match.
Rajeshwari Gayakwad: One player that no one really talks about is, orthodox spinner Gayakwad. She is an India veteran, and has picked up 61 T20I wickets in her career. Not in any international reckoning, getting her in WPL 2026 auction won’t burn a hole in GG’s pockets.
Kranti Gaud: India’s latest pace sensation Gaud was release by UPW in the WPL 2026 retentions. Nonetheless, she should be on Gujarat’s radar. She showed that she can be threatening; yes she was guilty of leaking some runs in the World Cup, but could be a handy player for the side.
