Ravindra Jadeja has been one of the stalwarts of CSK, and had captained them also briefly, a few years back.

As per reports, it seems all but confirmed that IPL 2026 is going to witness a major trade deal between CSK and RR. Chennai might just let all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja go, for Sanju Samson, the explosive keeper-batter. Of course, the team has been trying to get a keeper-batter who can succeed MS Dhoni, but have been unsuccessful till now.

Sanju Samson-Ravindra Jadeja trade to hurt CSK?

There are also reports, that Sanju Samson himself wants to distance himself from the team. But then, former domestic batter Priyank Panchal feels, that it would be a big mistake on part of CSK to let Jadeja go. Panchal took to X, and cautioned the team of the potential loss they could suffer, with the ouster of Jadeja.

“Trading Jadeja bhai for Sanju could be one of the bigger mistakes CSK could make. For a franchise known for sticking by their legends, they shouldn’t be letting go of someone who’s served them so tirelessly for so long, won multiple championships, and is an icon of the team,” Panchal wrote.

Meanwhile, the left-hander has played 12 seasons for the team until now, and also has won multiple trophies with them. In 200 matches for the franchise, he has scored 2354 runs at an average of 28, including five fifties. More importantly, he has picked up 152 wickets at an economy of 7.76.

That said, all teams are supposed to reveal their retention lists by November 15, and the IPL 2026 auction is likely to take place on December 15. There is no cap on how many players a team can retain, or release.
