Jemimah Rodrigues managed to score just 6 runs off 9 deliveries on her return to Brisbane Heat in WBBL 2025
India cricket team sensation Jemimah Rodrigues failed to fire on her return to the Women’s Big Bash League 2025. Jemi was single-handedly responsible for taking India women’s cricket team across the line in the Women’s World Cup 2025 semi-final, with her 127-run unbeaten knock. While Rodrigues managed to score 24 runs in the final against SA, her return to T20s wasn’t as successful.
Jemimah Rodrigues fails on WBBL return
Jemimah plays for Brisbane heat and is the only Indian women’s cricketer who is currently a part of WBBL 2025. Coming out to bat at number 3, she only managed to score 6 runs off 9 deliveries before she was sent packing. Brisbane Heat went on to lose the rain-hit tie against Melbourne Renegades as the opposition clinched a 7-wicket win.
“I honestly wasn’t sure if Australia would allow me to cross the border here after the semi-final but honestly, everyone has been so warm and welcoming and everyone is just so happy, in general for the growth of women’s cricket that has happened because of that win. Because we know that it is going to change massively, not just in India, but all over the world,” Jemimah had said before the game.
Jemimah finished as the 7th highest run-getter in the Women’s World Cup 2025, with 292 runs at an average of 58.40. Her impressive show in the semi-final against Australia also paved way for her to be named in the Team of the Tournament. In WBBL, she has 650 runs to her name from 31 games and averages just 25.
Meanwhile, Brisbane Heat were bowled out for 133 runs in the rain-hit tie against Melbourne. In response, the opposition managed to chase down the reduced target in just 7.3 overs.
