Suryakumar Yadav spoke about finally getting his hands over a trophy, after the team did not get the Asia Cup trophy.
India won the Asia Cup trophy last month, but the team is yet to get it in their hands. After the team refused to get the trophy from PCB’s Mohsin Naqvi, the latter stooped to the level of hiding the prize. The BCCI and PCB are in tussle over the entire issue, still. Skipper Suryakumar Yadav opened up on getting a trophy finally, as India won against Australia 2-1.
India yet to get Asia Cup, Surya jokes
Rather jokingly, he said, “It feels great to finally get to touch the trophy. Felt it in my hands, when I was handed over the trophy for the series victory,” the skipper said at the post match conference.
Surya also made a reference about the women’s team winning the World Cup, and also how it felt good to ‘touch’ the trophy. “A few days back another trophy arrived in India our women’s team has won’ the World Cup. That trophy has also arrived back home. It feels great and getting to touching this trophy as well feels good.”
India play South Africa next
Meanwhile, the last T20I of the IND vs AUS series was washed out due to rain. Only 4.5 overs of the first inning were bowled, where India went on to score 52/0. This series was important in the context of the next year’s T20 World Cup, where the selections, perhaps, could be made from here.
Now, the next T20I series will be against South Africa that starts on December 9. The 5-match series will conclude on December 19.
