Kaif on effect of Kohli’s marriage on star
In a video on his YouTube channel, Kaif responded to a fan’s query on how Virat had changed over the years. Recalling an incident involving Kagiso Rabada, the former Indian cricketer stated that that Kohli was much calmer after his marriage, while recalling an incident involving the South African pacer.
“Virat Kohli has become a bit calmer now. He is a father. There is a lot of difference between how he was before marriage and how he is after marriage. When I see him playing now – I had met him during an IPL game against Punjab Kings – he hit Kagiso Rabada for a boundary coming down the ground. Maybe he had scored a half-century and won the game. It was a seaming track. We had a nice chat. He was very calm. He told me that if I had not attacked Rabada early on, he would not have let me play,” Kaif said.
Kohli, who has retired from T20Is and Tests, is currently active in ODIs alone apart from in the IPL. He has been an integral part of RCB since the inception of the league and has become synonymous with RCB over the years. In IPL, Virat has amassed 8661 runs at an average of 39.53 including 8 hundreds and 63 fifties. The star batter is also one of the potential reasons as to why the owners are planning to sell RCB before IPL 2026. According to them, his imminent retirement could result in depreciation of the team’s value.
