Virat Kohli last played a competitive cricket game in the IPL 2025 Final against Punjab Kings. The 36-year-old has since enjoyed a well deserved break, staying away from the spotlight. Kohli is settled with his family in London and his only public appearance was at the Wimbledon Championships in July.

Noe rejuvenated, Kohli is working back into cricket mode. The Indian cricket legend is only active in ODIs, having retired from T20Is and Tests in the last 12 months. He sough the help of Naeem Amin, an assistant coach with Ashish Nehra at the Gujarat Titans. Amin runs the Mighty Willow Academy in London and has also worked with Sunrisers Hyderabad in the past.

“Thanks for helping out with the hit brother. Always lovely to see you,” Kohli wrote in an Instagram story, sharing a photo with and tagging Amin.

Kohli will have eyes on the 2027 World Cup in South Africa, his final shot at redemption. Virat will be ‘pushing 40’ but fitness has never been an issue with the former India captain. India play 27 ODIs till the WC2027 and fans will have enough time to see the ‘King’ in action.

Kohli was set to play the ODI series against Bangladesh in August but the tour was postponed to September 2026. He will likely wear the Indian jersey in October, during the three-match series against Australia.
