Duleep Trophy: Shubman Gill’s North Zone will play their first game against East Zone at the BCCI CEG ground.
After his very first assignment as Team India’s Test skipper ended in 2-2 draw vs England, away from home, a new responsibility could be coming Shubman Gill‘s way. As the North Zone squad was announced on Thursday, he is all set to lead the team in the Duleep Trophy, that is scheduled to start in Bengaluru from August 28.
North Zone Squad Named for Duleep Trophy
Apart from Shubman Gill, some of the known players to make the cut were — Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana, Ayush Badoni, and Anshul Kamboj. Given India’s tight schedule, the North Zone selectors also named replacements for international players. Gill would be relaced by Shubham Rohilla, Gurnoor Brar in place of Arshdeep, and Anuj Thakral for Harshit. The selectors also went on to name 7 stand by players, which give a strong look to the squad.
Meanwhile, Shubman Gill’s captaincy was largely lauded by the experts, there still were a few areas of concerns, that were discussed in his leadership in England. Him not bowling the spinners, and fast-bowling all-rounders enough, and the non-inclusion of Kuldeep Yadav throughout the series, were widely spoken about.
