Cricket Australia has named 14-man squads for 2 four-day and 3 one-day matches against India in Lucknow and Kanpur in Sep-Oct 2025
Cricket Australia has announced 14-man squads for two four-day matches and three one-day matches against India A scheduled to take place between September 16 to October 5. Among those in the team for the red-ball matches is Sam Konstas, the only incumbent Australia Test player to be named in the squad. Konstas, who made his debut in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India in December 2024, hasn’t been able to deliver on the expectations despite being handed multiple lifelines in Test cricket.
Australia A announce squads for India tour
Konstas made his Test debut in the Boxing Day Test against India. Despite getting off to a fiery start in his career, the young opener has faced more failures than success. In five Tests that he has played so far, Konstas has managed to score just 163 runs and averages just 16.30. The 19-year-old, at this point, certainly doesn’t seem to be the answer to Australia’s opening woes and is unlikely to retain his spot as the opener for the Ashes.
In Australia’s previous series against West Indies, Konstas registered scores of 5, 3, 25, 0, 17 and 0.
As per Cricket Australia, the team’s focus in the upcoming tour against India A is squarely on preparing emerging players for the next Border-Gavaskar Trophy tour in early 2027. Apart from Konstas, Todd Murphy, Nathan McSweeney and Cooper Connolly are other capped stars who have been named in the 14-man squad.
