Former England captain Michael Vaughan launched the idea of hosting the remaining matches of the Indian League (IPL) 2025 in the United Kingdom, following the suspension of the league due to military tensions between India and Pakistan.The Cricket Control Council in India (BCCI) announced on Friday that the tournament would be suspended for a week with an immediate effect. Subscribe now!Reacting to development, Vaughan posted on X: “I wonder if it is possible to finish the IPL in the United Kingdom … We have all the sites and the Indian players can then stay for the series of tests … Just a thought?”Vaughan’s suggestion is considered a logistics alternative, in particular with India planned to start a series of five tests against England from June 20 in Leeds. The BCCI has not yet confirmed when or where the 16 remaining games (12 league and 4 qualifiers) of the IPL will be played. Although there are speculation on a possible September window – if the Asian Cup is canceled – no official word has been given.
In its declaration, the BCCI stressed that “the national interest prevails over all other considerations” and expressed its solidarity towards the Indian government and the armed forces in the light of the current crisis. The board of directors thanked the broadcasters and the sponsors for having hierommmed national security.
