Despite a flawed setup with virtually no middle-order batting, Gujarat Titans qualified for the IPL 2025 Playoffs.

Gujarat Titans (GT) have packed their side with quality bowlers and all-rounders. And that’s one of the reasons why they have reached the playoffs stage of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 3 out of 4 seasons. Despite winning the trophy in 2022, GT might feel they missed out a couple of times already.

Their tactics and team composition have been questionable at times. And to further strengthen their team, GT could release a few all-rounders for other players, whether they be batters, bowlers, or all-rounders.

6 all-rounders GT should retain for IPL 2026

There’s no need to talk about Washington Sundar and Rashid Khan when it comes to retention. Glenn Phillips, despite missing the entire IPL 2025 season, will be retained. The Kiwi all-rounder is a steal at the price GT got him and will be backed. Shahrukh Khan performed well after Gujarat showed faith by retaining him.

Rahul Tewatia was underused with the ball once again and was horrible with the bat, but GT are expected to put their faith in him. Manav Suthar didn’t get much chance last year but has been great in domestic cricket, showing value with both bat and ball.

All-rounder Type Price (2025) IPL 2025 stats
Washington Sundar Off-spin INR 3.20 crore 133 runs at 26.60 & strike rate of 166.25
2 wickets at 55.50 & economy of 10.24
Rashid Khan Leg-spin INR 18.00 crore 40 runs at 8 & strike rate of 142.85
9 wickets at 57.11 & economy of 9.34
Glenn Phillips Off-spin INR 2.00 crore Did not play
Shahrukh Khan Off-spin INR 4.00 crore 179 runs at 29.83 & strike rate of 179
1 wicket at 13 & economy of 13
Rahul Tewatia Leg-spin INR 4.00 crore 99 runs at 12.37 & strike rate of 167.79
Did not bowl
Manav Suthar Left-arm orthodox INR 30.00 lakh 1 run at 1 & strike rate of 50
Bowled 2 overs

Now, let’s come to those who missed out. Karim Janat didn’t do anything worth retaining. Dasun Shanaka didn’t play. Mahipal Lomror has got potential, but after getting bought for INR 1.70 crore, GT didn’t give him a game. One wonders why they would retain him now. Nishant Sindhu has the same attributes as Suthar, and retaining both doesn’t make sense.
